Leg 3: Houston, TX to …….
January 24 – 31
The website was informative and gave us the necessary information to call and reserve on the road. The website seems a bit misleading (see facilities/ site quality below). Almost Heaven does not allow dogs of aggressive behavior. Good thing Ally is a pound puppy and we don’t really know what she is except that she is known for bringing the Ruckus! It is quite humid and usually foggy in the morning. The warm weather is a welcome change.
This is a large campground. We were placed in site 615 in the back because we paid for a week and this way we won’t have to move sites. With a Good Sam discount the total came to $148.00 for a full hookups with 50 amp service. The park is st up with mostly back in with a mixture of gravel/dirt/grass sites. The ground very saturated and difficult to put down jacks especially in the back. We set up in the dark, but we could tell this RV park has many long-term residents. It is not neat, orderly or clean. $148.00 a week (with the Good Same discount) seems to be very high for this park.
We chose a place outside of Houston so we didn’t have to deal with Houston traffic. We had fairly quick access to hwy 288 which can get us to Houston, Galveston, beaches, Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge, and geo-caching. We found a disc golf course close to the park in Lake Jackson.
They allow dogs, but not aggressive breeds. They have a good dog run/walk area near the pool and playground. There is a trail around the lake.
OVERALL RATING: 3
This might be a bit generous, but the location and the pet area are nice features.
Manvel, TX was humid and quite foggy until today! My hair was not frizzy at all…well ok not as frizzy!
Look out for our post with pictures of the places we went to while staying at Almost Heaven RV Resort.
