Lost Dutchman State Park/ Goldfield Ghost Town

While in Chandler, AZ we took our friends’ son hiking. We chose The Lost Dutchman State Park. We hiked the Siphon Draw Trail. Unfortunately we didn’t make it to the Flatiron. The hike ascends rather quickly and even though we started early it was already hot.  Fortunately we descended under a cloudy sky and a slight breeze.  The State Park was beautiful and surprisingly green. We stopped at the Goldfield Ghost Town on the way back to Laveen, AZ. It was quite touristy, but entertaining to say the least. We paid $1 each to walk through the museum and watched a gun fight for free complete with saloon girls, a baker, lawmen, and robbers. We initially went to see the mine tour, but at $8 a person, we felt it was too expensive.
